POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Dec14, 2025 : The Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka Pranay Verma on December 14, accusing her of allowing ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who is in India, to incite terrorist activities in Bangladesh and of attempting to sabotage the upcoming parliamentary elections through incidents such as the attack on Inquilab Manch spokesperson Osman Hadi. When the Indian High Commissioner came to the ministry in response to the summons, he was told to convey the Bangladesh government’s deep concern to Delhi over allowing Sheikh Hasina to continue inciting terrorist activities in Bangladesh. In addition, a call was made for the immediate extradition of Sheikh Hasina and Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs made the announcement in a press release on Sunday.
The release said that the ambassador’s attention was drawn to the anti-Bangladesh activities of Awami League members residing in India to disrupt the upcoming elections. The Ministry of External Affairs has called on the Indian government to stop these criminal activities and extradite them to Bangladesh as soon as possible.
The Ministry of External Affairs has sought India’s cooperation to prevent the escape of the suspects involved in the recent assassination attempt on Sharif Osman Hadi, the spokesperson of the Bangladesh Inquilab Manch, to India and, if they are able to enter Indian territory, to ensure their immediate arrest and extradition to Bangladesh.
The government hopes that India, as a neighboring country, will stand by the people of Bangladesh in upholding justice and protecting the democratic process.
