POBNEWS24, Dhaka, Feb 24, 2026 : Engineer Ramanath Pujari has joined as the Managing Director (MD) of Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Company Limited (BIFPCL). He formally assumed the charge on Tuesday.
This information was given in a notification sent by BIFPCL. The notification said that before assuming the charge, Ramanath Pujari was serving as the Project Director of Maitree Super Thermal Power Project (MSTPP) located in Rampal. At the same time, as the Executive Director of India’s state-owned power generation company NTPC Limited, he played an important role in plant management, reliability enhancement, efficiency development and compliance with environmental regulations. Under his leadership, reliable power generation increased in MSTPP and proper adherence to environmental conditions was ensured. Besides, he also played an active role in social development activities at the local level and township development in the project area.
Ramanath Pujari was born in Odisha, India in 1968. He completed his B.E. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the College of Engineering and Technology, Bhubaneswar. Later, he completed his MBA from MDI, Gurgaon. He also received higher training from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad and Harvard Business School, India.
Ramanath Pujari joined NTPC Limited in 1989. He has about 36 years of experience in the power sector. During his career, he headed NTPC’s Corporate Safety Department and served as the Head of the 2,980 MW Sipat Power Station in Chhattisgarh. He was also in charge of the Planning and Systems and Regional Operation Services Department.
It is worth mentioning that the 1,320 MW Rampal Power Plant, a Bangladesh-India joint venture, is being implemented by Bangladesh’s state-owned Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) in collaboration with India’s state-owned NTPC Limited. The power plant supplied 11.5 percent of the country’s total electricity production of 5,531 million units, a record achievement for the second consecutive month.
