US military exercise in Bangladesh, Strong anger and warning from Left Democratic Alliance

POBNEWS24, Dhaka Sept 18, 2025 : A 7-day exercise by US aircraft and Marines has begun in Chittagong, Bangladesh from Wednesday. Bangladeshi air and naval forces are also participating in this exercise, according to an ISPR press note. Earlier, US aircraft landed in Chittagong and the soldiers took up positions at Hotel Radisson. The Bangladeshi media world has already become vocal about this exercise. Various civil society organizations in Bangladesh and the Workers Party of Bangladesh, including the left-wing political parties, have protested.
The Left-Democratic Alliance of Bangladesh expressed strong anger, protest and condemnation in a statement on Thursday over the news of the presence of US Air Force military aircraft, Marines and army personnel at the Shah Amanat Airport in Chittagong, Bangladesh, in the name of a joint military exercise. In the statement, the leaders said that this incident is a major threat to the security and sovereignty of Bangladesh.
The leaders said in the statement, “We know that the imperialist forces are carrying out various malicious activities around the Chittagong Hill Tracts. The presence of such troops at this time will further strengthen these malicious activities.” The leaders said in the statement, “By approving the US military presence in Bangladesh under this joint exercise called “Operation Pacific Angel 25-3″, the Yunus government is protecting the interests of a special group outside its jurisdiction. This is against the national interests and security of Bangladesh. The US forces have long been greedy for military bases in sensitive geographical areas like Chittagong and deep seas. In addition, there are problems on the Myanmar border and the Rohingya issue. Along with this, there are many secret and sensitive installations of the three forces of the country here. Therefore, this US military presence in such an area is very risky. At the same time, through this exercise, US imperialism is eager to involve Bangladesh with its Indo-Pacific military strategy.” The statement said that the political experience of the Middle East, Latin America and the whole world has proven that such joint military exercises at the expense of people’s tax money hide huge geopolitical mischief, which is a huge threat to the security and sovereignty of the country concerned.
The leaders strongly protested and condemned this role of the government and called on the countrymen to be alert to the evil activities of US imperialism. They also strongly demanded that all secret agreements made with the US be immediately disclosed to the nation.
In the statement, the leaders demanded that the government give a full statement on this incident and immediately stop these activities of US imperialism, warning that if such activities of imperialism are not stopped, a strong movement will have to be launched against it.
The parties that issued the statement are the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB), the Socialist Party of Bangladesh-BASD, the Revolutionary Communist League, BASD (Marxist), the Democratic Revolutionary Party and the Socialist Party of Bangladesh.
